As a native of Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Vito is a lifelong fan of the Steelers and Penguins as you will see on a wall when you visit our office.
He completed his undergrad studies at Allegheny College, then attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia completing eight years of study. He then began his journey to becoming an eye doctor in Holly Springs.
Dr. Vito interned at Kirk US Army Hospital, Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, and at the Central Medical Pavilion in Pittsburgh. He completed his residency at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia.
Phil began his practice of Optometry in the Eye Department of HealthAmerica, a center-based HMO. Not long after joining HealthAmerica he met his wife, Joyce, a cardiac nurse.
Having a deep desire to connect more directly with his patients in his own practice, he convinced Joyce to move to North Carolina in 1997. They took up residence in Cary where they still live.
In 1999 when Holly Springs was still a small but growing community they opened Holly Springs Eyes Associates. The practice continues to grow as the community grows, and Dr. Vito feels blessed to have been part of the growth of such a vibrant area.
Phil and Joyce have two very active young teens, Christian and Caroline, who are avid basketball players.
When not seeing patients, or participating in community events, you might find Dr. Vito at the lake in his kayak, tinkering with his old Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, or working on home improvement projects. An interesting and little known fact about Dr Vito: he enjoys doing all of the IT work in his office.
